Fushigi Yuugi is a really nice anime......the characters are awesome.... especially the episodes!.... miaka is the awesomest!!!!(is that a word?) what a glutton for a school girl!! hehehehe ^_^

by the way i think there are still questions in your mind about this anime.... let me tell you.. What is Fushigi Yuugi?

It is an anime and manga series created by Yuu Watase....who is also responsible for the recent Ayashi no Ceres....Actually there are at most 52 episodes in the anime series....the original manga, a music video and a lot more.....In the U.S., Fushigi Yuugi was liscensed by Pioneer and was released with the title Fushigi Yuugi:The Mysterious play or The Curious Play....the title came from the English translation of Fushigi Yuugi....It is a shoujo anime that is primarily aimed at a school girl which also focuses in emotions and relationships....It is a mix of romance, drama, comedy, action and lots more.....

The story started when two school girls (who are also bestfriends), namely Miaka Yuuki and Yui Hongo, went into a library to return a book...Fortunately or unfortunately, they entered the restricted area and found an ancient book...Luckily or unluckily also, Yui can understand the calligraphy.....As they were pondering about the introduction...a red light trapped them,, absorbing them to enter the book.....the book by the way was entitled "The Universe of Four Gods".....

as Miaka and Yui entered the chinese book into ancient China, they were attacked by some men but saved by a guy with a shining red mark on his forehead.... (here was the first apperance of Tamahome).....the guy ran off when he found out that they do not have money....Miaka then followed him... as she was running after Tamahome...Yui suddenly disappeared.....Miaka suddenly got to Konan City where she again found Tamahome...they decided to look for Yui but where could they find her if she's already in the real world! reading the novel, knowing every move Miaka takes and every character miaka meets!

Eventually the two came to a palace at Konan and met Emperor Hotohori...also one of the Seishi.....he liked Miaka and so not to let her go...he decided to keep her as the Miko.....the Suzaku no Miko.....she has to find all the 7 Seishi, bring back peace to Konan and summon the divine god... thinking that it would be easy, she accepted it... well she already found two of the Seishi right? so there'sonly five left....that would be easy...^_^

*In "The Universe of Four Gods", there are 4 countries: Konan is the southern country and Suzaku the Red Phoenix is it's worshipped god. Sairou is to the West where Byakko the White Tiger is worshipped. Hokkan country is located in the cold northern area where it's god is Genbu the Black Turtle. And lastly, Kutou is the eastern (and VERY powerful and aggressive) country where Seiryuu the Blue Dragon is the divine god. Kutou's shogun, Nakago, is a very sadistic and powerful man. He is one of the 7 guardians of Seiryuu and the most powerful. Later on in the series, Yui gets brought back into the novel and becomes the Seiryuu No Miko. This presents a problem being that Yui and Miaka are best friends...but that friendship beings to crumble as the race for omnipotent power begins between the 2 countries. *

as the story goes on...Miaka starts off with her mission....Yui while the meantime suffers the same fate with Miaka as she reads the novel...because of their connection....the uniform.....when Yui was absorbed...Miaka went home....then she went back because she found out that she just changed places with Yui....then her brother started to read the novel....as it goes on...Miaka and Yui, once best friend now becomes worst enemies....
